Shivam Dubes career took a turn for the better. The Mumbai all-rounder is now in Indias T20 World Cup squad. But his journey wasnt easy. He struggled to find a spot in the Mumbai team last year. 

Mumbai chief selector Raju Kulkarni saw potential in Dube. It meant that in July last year when the West Zone selectors sat down to pick the zonals team for the Deodhar Trophy selection, Dube still had some chance. He convinced other selectors to give Dube a chance in the West Zone team. Kulkarni argued that Dube deserved a shot despite not playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. There was a lot of opposition from other states selectors who were saying that Dube was not also a part of Mumbai team

Kulkarni highlighted Dubes strong performance for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Having scored 350 runs in nine matches and has a strike rate of 172.41. He played a vital Part in Mumbai’s Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 triumph. In the end, Kulkarnis belief in Dube paid off. Dube was selected for the West Zone team. Dubes hard work and Kulkarnis faith led him to the World Cup squad.
